Portfolio: Residential
We have extensive experience in the design and management of gardens for residential institutions and housing developments including the provision of communal and play facilities. These schemes include the design of sheltered gardens, wildlife areas, and water features. Long term management is an integral part of the design with emphasis on low maintenance.
Wilton, Wiltshire.
A workhouse built in 1836-7 to a design arranged round four courtyards. Now being converted for residential use, the courtyards will become communal gardens with a play area for young children.
The Reef Apartments, Bournemouth.
A new development of flats, of striking design in this coastal setting, called for an original landscape design. The textures, materials and plants reflect the reef theme.
The Crescent, Netley, Southampton.
This residential housing scheme has been designed to an Eco-Homes rating of excellent. The landscape design includes wildlife areas with plants for butterflies, birds and other insects.
Laburnum Road, Fareham.
The design of this new housing development has created an external environment, which provides both private enclosed spaces and common areas. Planting provides enclosure and links with neighbouring greens.
Ludlow Road, Portsmouth.
This housing scheme for Portsmouth Housing Association was completed in 2004 and contains a number of housing units. Good detailing to walls, railings and bin stores has been complimented by a co-ordinated planting scheme of robust colourful shrubs.
Centre Park, Southampton.
The roof garden in this scheme has been designed for communal use to give residents an outdoor space (so often lacking). Timber planters surround planting modules, which are filled with a lightweight soil mix to give a lightweight construction. The paving in the schemes is a granite effect paving, in cream, with charcoal used for contrast.
The sculptures in the schemes have been designed by Laleh Yeganegy B.A. (Hons). The sculpture for Centre Park is an intricate ball of laser cut stainless steel rings, designed to line up at different viewpoints.
Gillingham, Dorset.
In this scheme for 120 houses and public open space, we were involved from the outset and undertook an environmental assessment in conjunction with Ecological Consultants. The design and layout of the housing reflects Poundbury and the associated landscaping is designed to compliment this by providing a cottage garden feel. Front gardens have been planted to create a co-ordinated scheme for each street.
